Summer Art Camps 2013

June Camps

Printmaking for Kids

Instructor: Christina Hankins

 Ages 5-8

Dates:June 17-21, Monday-Friday

Time: 10am-11:30am

Cost: $120/ includes materials

Max: 10 Students/ Min 3 Students

Learn about the amazing world of printmaking! Students will engage in a variety of printing techniques including block printing, screen printing and creating prints out of everyday kitchen items to create a relief print with paper plates, string, and a collection of other items. Children will also create prints on fabric and decorate an old pair of jeans

Kids will also be learn how to screen print and have the opportunity to print a t-shirt (provided by the student). This will be an exciting class for young artists to explore color and unique techniques. You’ll be amazed by what they’ll create using simple supplies found at home.

**Please dress your child to get messy.

Let’s Paint!

 In this painting class we will experiment with different styles and ways of painting. Every painting taken home will be worthy of framing.  The last 3 days of class will focus on students choosing their favorite work and then re-painting it on Canvas!! It will be ready for your wall at home. This class is a great way to expand and try new ways of being the painter we all know you are!!

Let’s Paint!

Fun with Cartoons

Ages: 6 – 13

Dates: July 22-26

Times: 10-11:30am

Description of class:

This course begins by covering the basics of cartooning, focusing primarily on characters and how the idea for a character can come from anywhere.  By using a handful of visual aids in each class session, students will not only strengthen their drawing skills, but also learn how to come up with new ideas, draw everyday objects and ultimately learn how to have fun drawing, no matter where they are. By the end of the class, students will have a folder full of cartoon characters they created and a new eye for the world around them.

Materials needed:  A durable folder for collecting and carrying work to and from class.

How to Make Your Own Picture Book

Ages: 6 – teen

Dates: July 29- Aug. 2

Time: 10am-11:30am

Cost: $120.00

Description:

One sheet of paper, eight drawings, a pair of scissors, some tape and whole bunch of fun! This class shows students of all ages how to make their own picture book. Led by children’s book illustrator and writer, Scott Spinks, students will get tips for drawing cartoons, developing simple story ideas and telling stories with pictures. Students will also learn how to create an attractive and eye-catching cover for their book. After students complete this class, they will have all the knowledge they need to create a mini-picture book or comic book to share with their family and friends.

Materials needed: A durable folder for collecting and carrying work to and from class.

August Camps

Studio Art for Kids
