Creative Card-Making! (Adults)

Come spend an afternoon making cards and other small artworks in a variety of media: colored pencil, ink, watercolor, collage and additional surprises. Experiment with new approaches while delighting in your own unique style and sensibility. Techniques and tips will be offered as jumping off points for your own discoveries. This session will encourage people who feel they aren’t creative but want to be as well as those who want to expand the horizons of their current style. In this quick-click culture giving a handmade card is doubly rewarding, rare, and often treasured by the recipient. Birthdays and holidays are wonderful times for receiving a handmade card from a friend and no-occasion cards can be like an unexpected sunbeam on a cloudy day. Supplies will be included but do bring your tools if you have some: favorite scissors, pens, brushes, or other materials. If you have a special subject you’d like to work on, you might bring an image or two. Cardstock paper will be provided with envelopes to correspond.

More Creative Card-Making!

We will design cards and small artworks while experimenting in several styles and media. This class will build on the previous class with new exercises and the addition of acrylic paint, mixed media and some printmaking techniques. (Although the content will be different from the previous card-making class, that course is not a prerequisite for this one and either can be taken independently.) We will explore together, leaving room for personal style and choice. You will enjoy working in ways that may be new to you and be inspired by each other’s work! You can expect to take home finished pieces to use as cards to give, or frame for yourself! Supplies will be included but bring your own tools if you have them: favorite brushes, scissors, pens or other materials. If you have a special subject you’d like to work on, you might bring an image or two. Cardstock paper will be provided with envelopes to correspond.
