Creating a Window of My Wandering Mosaic - with Rachel Arntson - Feb 2 & 3, 2026

$200.00

This class has SOLD OUT several times at White Bear Center for the Arts!
We are proud to offer this class right here in Rachel’s home town of Maple Grove.

We can only take 8 students - DON’T miss out on this amazing opportunity!

Have you ever admired beautiful windows, flower pots, shutters, ancient bricks, and mortar of old buildings around the world? From Lanesboro, Minnesota to Venice, Italy, Rachel Arntson has been fascinated with them and has developed a mosaic collection called “Windows of My Wandering ©.” Now you can create a window of your own wandering based on a photo Rachel has taken on one of her trips.

Students will use materials such as rocks, glass, beads, metal, Apoxie Sculpt, filati, millefiori, dishes, and mortar to finish a 5x7 inch mosaic.

Students can choose to create windows embellished with flowers, flower pots, curtains, and shutters.

Techniques for cutting and grinding glass, rocks, dishes, and filati will be covered. Students will learn how to use mortar to attach rocks and glass and also use Apoxie Sculpt, a 2-part clay, for creating flower pots and other embellishments.

If you want to explore a variety of materials and techniques for creating mosaics, this class is for you. It will involve intricate details, though, so good vision, patience, and steady hands are important. You need to have the ability to cut glass with wheeled nippers which takes some strength in your hands.

2 days have been provided to complete this mosaic. Depending on how detailed you want to be, the time it takes to complete your mosaic can really vary.

Upon completion, you will have a framed, finished piece that you will be proud to hang in your home.
