“Freckles” by Victoria Walz

What does the future hold for artists? Take for instance photography. It’s always had its share of cynics. Nowadays many assume images are made by the technology, not the person using it. For years I used filters on film cameras that reduced reflections and gave me pure, signature color. People often surmised the work was “Photo-shopped.” This image of a leopard appaloosa horse was created without a filter on a film camera. The negative was scanned and yes – Photoshop was used to achieve what I envisioned. But that’s not always the case. The good news is there’s room for it all – room for both the traditional and the contemporary – as long as the differences are understood.
