This piece is part of my "2024 Portals" collection, which features paintings on recycled wood rounds. I begin by applying a layer of white wood ground as a base, which allows me to use watercolors directly on the wood surface.

I vividly recall the process of creating this specific work, starting with a soft, pale yellow light and slowly layering various hues. Because there are no whites in watercolor, each of my paintings requires a careful process of layering while preserving the highlights. For this piece, my focus was on capturing the diverse range of greens found in a lush spring forest.
