As a first-time artist and avid sailor on Lake Superior and Lake Minnetonka, I find inspiration in the elements of water, wind, and light that define the sailing experience. This piece reflects my love of sailing and the landscapes that inspire it, created using materials repurposed from retired sails.
The artwork, set on a 12-inch canvas, features red and blue spinnaker cloth, carefully selected to represent the interplay of water and a fiery red sunset. At the heart of the piece, two panels of white and translucent blue sailcloth form a stylized heart, symbolizing the passion and connection that sailing brings to my life. The design is outlined with silver-colored Spectra cord, evoking the strength and craftsmanship of the sailing world.
