Painting the northern lights after seeing them for the first time back in 2023 has become so much more intriguing. Seeing them dance in the sky in such a quiet but untamed way will always dazzle me. This painting is part of a collection I call Portals, a series of one-of-a-kind originals on wood. I paint a layer of wood ground on the round and then am able to watercolor directly over it and seal them with a matte varnish.
