"Wildflower" by Denise Mattes
Plastics generate an immense volume of greenhouse gases because of the fossil fuels used throughout their lifecycle from extraction to production. In turn, the great increase in greenhouse gases intensifies climate change which is now being experienced as temperatures that are too warm and rainfall that is too much or too little for nature to thrive.
My art is created from plastics (discarded bags and single-use containers) to confront us with nature at risk.
Climate change is endangering wildflowers which, besides untamed beauty, symbolize resilience. They support entire ecosystems of pollinating insects, birds, and small animals. All sale proceeds are donated to environmental causes.
