This piece is titled is a little pun as it's the only Monarch I'd be okay with reigning forever ;) We raise monarch caterpillars every year and it's been hard to see them on the decline.

This is part of a collection I call Portals, a series of one-of-a-kind originals on wood. I paint a layer of wood ground on the round and then am able to watercolor directly over it and seal them with a matte varnish.
