Hello All,
It feels so good to be sending this out to all of you, the light at the end of the tunnel is finally getting brighter. We did re-open our space at the beginning of May and as I write this, we are undergoing a space revamp. The walls are being painted and we are installing a professional art hanging system to make it all a little easier going forward on our volunteers. We are in the process of pivoting once more to adhere to the Governor’s latest Executive Order. Our classes will be expanding and we will allow fully vaccinated people to come into our space without a mask. We strongly advise non-vaccinated people to still mask-up. We will have masks and hand sanitizers available for those that require supplies.
So what else is new? Classes that’s what! We have a new Education Director, Keith Braafladt, who is scheduling new and exciting arts opportunities that you can purchase and enjoy.

Adult Classes
We have lots of offerings in our adult section, including photography, paint pours, watercolor classes, ceramics, paper crafts and textiles. We even have just added a networking & critique based lecture. There is truly something for everyone to try.
Welcome to the wonderful world of mosaic art! In this beginner class, each student will have fun learning the basics of this ancient art form. Students will make a Mosaic Wall Panel which makes a great gift or can be used as a trivet for your favorite pie or hang on your wall. You make your own design with your favorite tile colors and textures. The class will be divided into 3 parts: Design/Layout and Tile Cutting Techniques, How to Glue and Transfer and Grouting Tips & Tricks.

This mysterious anonymously owned painting has not been publicly exhibited since 1948. Learn some of Van Gogh’s techniques and we will discuss what influenced him and his creative process. You will create your own beautiful painting using non-toxic water mixable oil paints. Best of all it’s fun!
All supplies are provided and you’ll leave with a beautiful 9 x 12 canvas painting. Please bring a pan or box to carry your wet painting back and forth to class.
Please note that painting is messy you may want to bring disposable gloves and an apron, but it’s not required. Michaels and Hobby Lobby have aprons.

This is one of four poppy field paintings Monet created near his home in Giverny, France. This painting was an important step in his creative process in the Impressionist movement. Learn Monet’s techniques such as scumbling, layering, and complementary colors. You will create your own beautiful painting using non-toxic water mixable oil paints. Learn and have fun too!

Vincent van Gogh chose to enter an asylum in Saint-Rémy, France, and within the first week he began Irises. Learn why the flowers appear blue when Irises are purple.

This painting is anonymously owned and has been exhibited only four times. It’s known for its vigorous and colorful brushwork in the foreground. It’s an example of the point where Monet began experimenting with painting series of paintings such as haystacks.

Bring a little sparkle into your home with a one-of-a-kind sun catcher!
In this hands-on workshop, you’ll design and fill a wooden sun catcher frame using colorful crushed glass pieces. Once your design is complete, you’ll learn how to use resin to seal the glass in place, creating a luminous piece that catches the light beautifully in any window.
A box will be provided to safely transport your finished artwork home.
Choose your design from: pumpkin, sunflower, Santa, bird, or dragonfly.

This is a painting I did several years ago. It has design flaws that we will discuss and correct.
We will also study how to handle afternoon light. A variety of tree values cradle the scene. Add cows if you like. I will have directions available. The fence is the string of pearls to hold it all together.

Watercolor sketching is fun!
The purpose is to capture a moment, a memory or a place. Don't worry if you are not confident with your drawing ability. We are not creating precious art. This is an opportunity to relax in a non-judgmental environment and develop a skill that you can produce anywhere. By working small we do not labor over detail. Adding paint color is easy because you have the shapes for guidance. You can work live or from photographs. Watercolor sketching is a great hobby or your sketches can be a fun gift to share.

Grab your friends and family and gather to create a beautiful barn quilt pattern on a 14" x 14” reclaimed wood pallet.
You will be guided step-by-step through in-person and written instructions. Choose from a variety of designs and colors to make it your own. The barn wood is locally sourced by craftsman and farmer, Josh Reinitz of East Henderson Farm, each pallet has a unique quality. The wood is truly reclaimed, meaning each pallet will be completely individual and will have flaws, such as nail holes and small dings. The wood has been carefully selected, pre-sanded and assembled.

Gouache (gwash) is an opaque, water-based paint similar to watercolor. It is, in some ways, easier to work with than transparent watercolor. Gouache dries very quickly and can be painted over once it is dry. It dries to a matte finish so is often used by artists who want a poster-like effect that is easier to scan or photograph. It is not new, the Impressionists used the medium as well as ancient Egyptians. Gouache remains water soluble after it dries and requires no solvents to clean up which makes it easy to pack up and take anywhere.
The class will cover seeing the big shapes, underpainting, color mixing, layering, blending and maintaining color purity. Gouache does not handle like any other painting medium, so we will paint small as we practice. (Acrylic gouache is NOT a substitute. While it also dries dull, it has completely different properties.)
