Hello All,
It feels so good to be sending this out to all of you, the light at the end of the tunnel is finally getting brighter. We did re-open our space at the beginning of May and as I write this, we are undergoing a space revamp. The walls are being painted and we are installing a professional art hanging system to make it all a little easier going forward on our volunteers. We are in the process of pivoting once more to adhere to the Governor’s latest Executive Order. Our classes will be expanding and we will allow fully vaccinated people to come into our space without a mask. We strongly advise non-vaccinated people to still mask-up. We will have masks and hand sanitizers available for those that require supplies.
So what else is new? Classes that’s what! We have a new Education Director, Keith Braafladt, who is scheduling new and exciting arts opportunities that you can purchase and enjoy.

Adult Classes
We have lots of offerings in our adult section, including photography, paint pours, watercolor classes, ceramics, paper crafts and textiles. We even have just added a networking & critique based lecture. There is truly something for everyone to try.
This painting is anonymously owned and has been exhibited only four times. It’s known for its vigorous and colorful brushwork in the foreground. It’s an example of the point where Monet began experimenting with painting series of paintings such as haystacks.
Learn some of Monet’s techniques such as scumbling and layering and complementary colors. Create your own beautiful painting using non-toxic water mixable oil paints. Learn and have fun too!
All supplies are provided and you’ll leave with a beautiful 9 x 12 canvas painting. Please bring a pan or box to carry your wet painting back and forth to class.
Please note that painting is messy you may want to bring disposable gloves and an apron, but it’s not required. Michaels and Hobby Lobby have aprons.

Watercolor sketching is fun!
The purpose is to capture a moment, a memory or a place. Don't worry if you are not confident with your drawing ability. We are not creating precious art. This is an opportunity to relax in a non-judgmental environment and develop a skill that you can produce anywhere. By working small we do not labor over detail. Adding paint color is easy because you have the shapes for guidance. You can work live or from photographs. Watercolor sketching is a great hobby or your sketches can be a fun gift to share.

Welcome to the wonderful world of mosaic art! In this beginner class, each student will have fun learning the basics of this ancient art form. Students will make a Mosaic Wall Panel which makes a great gift or can be used as a trivet for your favorite pie or hang on your wall. You make your own design with your favorite tile colors and textures. The class will be divided into 3 parts: Design/Layout and Tile Cutting Techniques, How to Glue and Transfer and Grouting Tips & Tricks.

We have listened and delivered on a micro mosaic class that is not jewelry oriented. Join us for this class where you will mosaic a 2.5 inch, wooden jar lid in your own unique design. Upon completion, you will choose between a 4, 6, or 8 oz glass jar.
The glass you will use for this class comes primarily from Murano, Italy, and we welcome you to explore the use of dichroic glass, metal, and stones. You will learn many terms such as millefiori, filati, stringers, nippers, and more. Explore how to cut glass, mix Apoxie Sculpt, and insert the glass into the 2.5 inch lid. Your end result will be a beautiful jar for your treasures.

A Windows of My Wandering mosaic class is here! If you have been fascinated with ancient windows around the world and, in particular, Venice, Italy, this class is for you. You can create your own mosaic replica in this class including window ledges, shutters, flower pots, plumbing pipes, and even a clothesline with hanging laundry.
Using a photo as a template, students will learn how to create a realistic window from Venice using techniques for cutting and grinding glass, rocks, dishes, and filati. Apoxie Sculpt, glue, and mortar will be used as adhesives to finish a 6 x 8 inch mosaic.
12 hours have been provided to complete this mosaic. Depending on how detailed you want to be, the time it takes to complete your mosaic can really vary.
Upon completion, you will have a framed, finished piece that you will be proud to hang in your home.

The ancient art of Micro Mosaic is back at Maple Grove Arts Center. Using difficult to find glass from Italy, you will create a bracelet consisting of 7 silver-plated round or square bezels, each having a unique mosaic design.
The class emphasizes techniques of cutting filati, millefiori, and some new forms of glass - all from Italy. You can explore cutting 24 carat gold smalti and long canes of millefiori.
This is your opportunity to experience micro mosaic using incredible Italian glass, and make a distinctive bracelet you’ll enjoy wearing!
Join up to three instructors (depending on the size of the class), Shawn Wiski, Rachel Arntson, and Liz Taras, for this enjoyable day.

Create your own serene winter wonderland in acrylic on a 12” × 16” stretched canvas! In this fun, step-by-step painting experience, you’ll learn how to create beautiful pine trees using a fan brush while exploring atmospheric perspective, glazing, and layering from dark to light.

Grab your friends and family and gather to create a beautiful barn quilt pattern on a 14" x 14” reclaimed wood pallet.
You will be guided step-by-step through in-person and written instructions. Choose from a variety of designs and colors to make it your own. The barn wood is locally sourced by craftsman and farmer, Josh Reinitz of East Henderson Farm, each pallet has a unique quality. The wood is truly reclaimed, meaning each pallet will be completely individual and will have flaws, such as nail holes and small dings. The wood has been carefully selected, pre-sanded and assembled.

Georgia O’Keeffe, often called the “Mother of American Modernism,” had a remarkable way of transforming simple subjects into bold, expressive works of art. In this fun and inspiring acrylic painting class, we’ll explore O’Keeffe’s life, artistic journey, and the unique voice she developed as an artist.
We’ll take a closer look at her delicate floral painting, Lake George, and discover how she used line, shape, color, and composition to create her iconic style. Then, inspired by O’Keeffe’s approach, you’ll experiment with these elements as you create your own beautiful floral painting.

Aryn will guide you step-by-step with demonstrations and easy-to-follow written instructions. Choose from a variety of distinctive quilt patterns and choose your own colors to create a piece that’s uniquely yours.
